Merry Christmoose!

I hope you and your family have a beautiful Christmas filled with joy, love, and peace! As I look out my window, we are getting a fresh blanket of snow. I’m excited because I wanted to have snow for the holidays. Living in Alaska, one would think we’d have snow. Well . . . it’s been brown out there until today. When it’s snowing . . . it’s a perfect day for crafting!

This inspiration brings me to today’s holiday card!  When I saw this stamp set in the 2019 holiday catalog, I knew it was a must have for my stamp set collection. We have moose all over Alaska, and they frequently visit our home!  During October, my children carved some pumpkin decorations.  We set them out on the front porch to greet the trick-or-treaters in two days.  Well . . . the next day, yes the NEXT day, our friendly moose arrived!  It was fun to watch them, but we wished they waited two more days.  You can certainly see they enjoyed their autumn treat!

So, you see, today’s card is totally appropriate!

I used the “Merry Moose” stamp set and the “Buffalo Check” background stamp to design this card.  I wanted to make a holiday card that represented Alaska, and one that was unique.  I decided to stick with holiday colors (cherry cobbler and olive green). Although this card can be made with other colors for other special occassions, I felt a holiday scene would be perfect!

I’m not sure if you can see the trees sparkle, but I used dazzling diamonds glitter on the trees to add a “snowlike” effect.  The moose walks through the tree forest with a matching cherry cobbler scarf.  If you look closely at the coordinating envelope, I placed a Santa hat on the lower lefthand corner.  Did you know that moose can be a nuisance? Sometimes they get their antlers stuck in holiday lights, so this scarf and Santa hat you see, can be realistic.

Here you can see another view of the card.  I stamped a “Season’s Greetings” sentiment on the inside panel along with the “Alaska” stamp. I made certain that the sentiment did not peek out from behind the moose panel when the card was closed.  An error like this would distract from the beautiful snowy moose scene.

That wraps up this fabulous Alaska winter moose scene!  I hope you enjoy this card as much as I did making this card for my friends and family. We are a quick seven days from Christmas morning.  Enjoy the season and all it brings with your friends and family.  Merry Christmoose!

We lost so many pumpkins to hungry moose when I was a kid in Alaska! Thanks for the memory!

I love your card design. We live in Wisconsin and normally have snow on Christmas. Well, this year we got snow on Halloween, but it melted before Christmas.

Our seasons have been changing, too. We typically have snow mid October (10 years ago), but now it is “iffy”. We didn’t have snow or wind on Halloween. It’s always nice to see the trick-or-treaters’ costumes instead of the snowsuits and winter gear. We had nice weather for Halloween this year.

The card is so cute. I made ton of cards this Christmas as well. More than I needed, so I’m good to go in 2020!

  7. This is so beautiful! I admire people who can craft well. I can’t believe a moose was on the porch was going after the pumpkin!

That is crazy to see a moose on your porch, eating a pumpkin!
    Adorable card!

Yes, and the two siblings and dad were in other parts of our yard that night. Normally they don’t really come down to eat until we get quite a bit of snow, so this appearance was quite unusual!
