Good Morning, Alaska
I remember moving to Alaska in 1993. Growing up in the midwest and only surrounded by hills, I was very excited for this new adventure to live in Alaska!
I remember the trip like it was yesterday. The snow capped mountains, trail of roads, trees (lots of trees), moose, lakes . . . this was truly “The Last Frontier”.
My mornings sitting on my front porch enjoying breakfast and viewing the sun rise above the Chugach mountains is always a breathtaking beauty. I never tire of this scene.
I created this card to remind me of the beauty that I am blessed to see daily living in this great state, Alaska. June is always a beautiful month with lots of blue skies and warm temps. If you were sitting on my porch this morning, this card is exactly what you’d see!

Recreating Alaska Beauty
When I saw the Mountain Air stamp set, I knew this would be the perfect set to showcase Alaska.
In this card, I wanted to capture the sunrise over the Chugach Mountains. I used the 2021 – 2023 In Colors to create the skyline using blending brushes. I prefer this tool over the sponge daubers as the brushes leave no edges and have a smother transition. The mountains against the sky with the lake in the foreground is a typical landscape you’ll see when traveling on the road system.
Lakes and Trees
There are thousands of lakes and more trees across Alaska. Everywhere you look, you’ll see lakes and mountains. As the sentiment states, this is my inspiration for this card.
I chose to use first and second generation stamping to create this unique picture. The mountains and trees show depth using the generational stamping technique. The sun peeking above the mountains in all its’ glory (with some Winkestella sparkle) finishes off this beautiful Alaska morning scene.
I added a sentiment, rhinestones, and some natural linen thread to complete this card. I think it turned out beautiful, just like my morning viewing from my front porch. What do you think?
. . . and of course, what is a beautiful card without the inside panel just as beautiful? I carried over the wilderness scene with some trees to complete this card. Writing a special note inside this card is extra meaningful for the recipient.
I included a complete supply list below to recreate this beautiful card. Enjoy!
Creating an Alaska scene with the Mountain Air stamp set and 2021 – 2023 In Colors shares the beauty I see everyday in this state. This is a card I would love to share with others, but I think this one deserves a frame and a special place in my house. Hmmm . . . I guess I’ll need to create another card.
