Summer Flowers

Today I had another opportunity to work in my craft room with a new stamp set!!  I was very excited, as I had several ideas going through my mind about what to design.  I knew I needed to get some Thank You cards created, and I love making seasonal cards for this occassion.  I think it just adds a little something extra from me to show how much I really appreciate the kindness shared to me.

When I think about summer, I always think of Red, White, and Blue colors!!  We start out summer with Memorial Day in May, Flag Day in June, Independance Day in July, and end the summer with Labor Day in September. Do you see the color theme happening???  So . . . why not create a summer card using these festive colors: Red, White, and Blue!

And here you have it!!  My “Summer Flowers Thank You” card inspired by the festive colors: red, white, and blue AND bright summer sunshiney colors!

I had a lot of fun creating this card, using the blends markers, thinking about summer colors, and playing with the design.  I chose to use the Night of Navy background as this represents the “field of blue” on the American flag.  Of course, the stripes represent the 13 stripes on the flag.  Then I mounted the summer floral bouquet in a beautiful jar and added a special, yet simple, sentiment.  I believe this card turned out perfect!!

Another detail that makes this card extra special is the work that I place inside the card.  Because handmade cards are durable and crafted with care, including some “extra special pop” on the inside of this card certainly gives it another WOW factor!

I was able to use some Real Red cardstock scraps and Stripes Designer Series Paper to coordinate the inside panel with the front panel.  I think this makes the card extra special!
